Margaux, Second Growth.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Acquired in 1937 by the owners of Château Margaux, one of the main shareholders of which was the Lurton family at the time, this Second Grand Cru Classé became the property of Lucien Lurton in 1961 and then in 1992 of his son, Gonzague Lurton. Château Durfort-Vivens is from a 65-hectare vineyard planted on deep gravel soil with a sandy-clay subsoil. In 2016, Château Durfort-Vivens was the first of the Margaux Cru Classés to obtain Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture certifications.

James Suckling: 95-96/100

William Kelley - Wine Advocate: 94-95/100

Antonio Galloni - Vinous: 92-95/100
The 2023 Durfort-Vivens is a very pretty, understated wine. In 2023, Durfort is marked by a brighter profile than usual: red fruit, blood orange and flowers. Medium in body and persistent, with good energy and very fine balance, the 2023 is promising. Even though it s showing a touch of oak at this stage, this layered and sumptuous offering is showing well.
