47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc.

Château Labégorce is found just north of the town of Margaux, opposite Château Lascombes. It produces wines that are often favourably compared to its neighbouring classified Margaux Growths, but available for considerably less of an investment. Its instantly recognisable and iconic Château was constructed in 1821, and the modern estate was purchased by Hubert Perrodo in 1989, now managed by his daughter Nathalie.

Antonio Galloni - Vinous: 92-94/100
The 2023 Labégorce has a well-defined nose that leans slightly more toward red than black fruit. It's understated at first but soon coheres and gains intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant tannins. Satin-like in texture and very cohesive, with a touch of spice on the finish, this is a classy Margaux that will give a great deal of pleasure over the next 15 to 20 years. Warning through: it will be difficult to resist in its youth.

Jen Dunnuck: 91-93/100
Based on close to an even split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2023 Château Labégorce has a spicy, medium-bodied, supple, complex profile that's almost already hard to resist. Ripe red and black fruits, loamy earth, and savory herb notes define the aromatics, and it has nicely integrated background oak, good mid-palate density, and outstanding length. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

James Suckling: 92-93/100
