65% Cabernet Franc; 30% Merlot; 5% Malbec.

At the very top of the Bordeaux wine ranking system, Château Jean Faure’s terroir is the same as that of the greatest crus classés of Saint–Emilion.

Neighboring Pomerol and anchored firmly in clay soils, the château exhibits a peaceful silhouette. Less than 100 meters from Château Cheval Blanc, bordered on its left side by Château La Dominique, and behind by Château l’Evangile, the 18-hectare square vineyard forms a magic enclave, where nature has once again taken the stage.

Château Jean Faure shares with its most prestigious peers, the force offered by clay-laden terroirs, where Cabernet Franc draws exceptional energy.

Jane Anson: 96/100
Violets and gunsmoke swirl upwards out of the glass, setting the scene for a sterling vintage at Jean Faure. Delicately boned, sappy blue fruit, this seduces slowly but surely, fantastic balance and fully showcasing the potential of Cabernet Franc in the vintage. Often this wine is austere and needs time when tasting En Primeur, but the fragrance and the finesse is already on full display. Brilliant stuff. 30% new oak for ageing, along with 25% oak casks, 15% concrete eggs; 30% one year old oak barrels.

James Suckling: 94-95/100
A young red with blackberry, dark cherry and some fresh herbs, in a very good sense. Medium body, integrated tannins and a polished and attractive finish. Really pretty fruit here. Picked al-dente. Better than 2022?

William Kelley - Wine Advocate: 93-95/100

The 2023 Jean Faure has turned out beautifully this year, bursting with aromas of mulberries, rose petals, iris and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it's seamless and enveloping, with real mid-palate plenitude, supple tannins and a long, delicately minty finish. It's a blend of fully 65% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 5% Malbec.
